Spotify playlist to make it through February

We are a bit more than halfway through Winter and slivers of Spring are somewhere in the distance. This collection of song isn’t just about wallowing in the winter blues, but about finding hope and beauty amidst the quiet contemplation of the ending winter. Some of the songs here might sound a bit dark and mood, but there’s an undercurrent of optimism, like the first tentative buds pushing through frosted soil. Each song is a whispered promise that spring is coming, even as you embrace the introspective hush of the present moment. Hit play, and let this playlist guide you through February’s thoughtful meanderings, with a warm hand on your shoulder reminding you that brighter days are ahead.

Aviino – Perfect Storm

This song comes from an album named Cocoon and it actually gives you the feeling of feeling safe and warm during a perfect winter storm in February. This is a very melodic lofi track with lots of atmospheric emotional noise. Overall its just good warm winter vibes.

Mountain Man – Baby Where You Are

This song is originally by Ted Lucas but I actually think that Mountain Man’s cover is better than the original. Imagine driving through the Midwest of the United States and stopping off at a rural bar in the middle of nowhere. You walk in and this is going to be the song playing for sure. There’s just guitars and vocals but there’s more depth here than songs with 100 things happening at once.

Money Shows – John Glacier, Eartheater

This tracks gets me pumped up with the simple driving rough guitar riff. The vocals are kind of Spoken Word style and there’s not much actual singing but overall this one of the most unique tracks that I have heard in a few months. It reminds me of cold days, hard streets and dim corner stores.

Max Flute Variation – Michel Portal

A really simple instrumental tracks that features multiple flute melodies and one bass line. It’s simple but it creates a world of thoughts. No wonder this is a soundtrack to a strange movie.

Tayos Caves, Ecaudor ii – Jon Hopkins

Jon Hopkins is a master at creating gorgeous deep ambient tracks that don’t get boring. This is a perfect soundtrack for meditating or just staying cozy during the winter. Make sure to listen to this one on headphones. It feels like you are hibernating in a cave for a long time.

Everything is in your hands – Old Gray

This screamo track is a bit different from the rest of the tracks in this playlist. Sometimes you just need to scream but it’s easier to let other people do it for you. The layered emo vocals in this song are really powerful and moving and this song has one of the best endings I have ever heard.

Blue Age – Josiah Steinbrick

This is another simple type of ambient track for the playlist. The synth chord progression is very moving and it sounds like it’s falling downwards. A very short track but very beautiful. A perfect soundtrack for a quiet thoughtful February evening.

Fleeting Smile – Roger Eno

A gorgeous uplifting solo piano piece which gives off romantic vibes. This sonata feels like a walk in the park. I can imagine this piece being used for slow motion scenes in any type of movie.

Gale Still Blowing – Early Fern

Early Fern is a former farm worker who makes exploratory music about places, feelings and memories. This song sounds like it’s the soundtrack of a fairytale winter world. The layering of sounds and build up of the melodies is really well done.
